My New Sony PSP

My SOny PSP So I went and bought a Sony PSP (Playstation Portable), and it is awesome. The reason behind my purchase was due to the fact that my MP3 player went the way of the Dodo, and I had the money to purchase a nice MP3 player. Well I looked at Ipod’s, even though I despise the Ipod format and crummy Itunes, the cheapest Ipod that plays video and audio files is $149, and the Ipod Touch that allows Web Browsing via WiFi is about $399. I also looked at Microsoft’s Zune players (which if I was going to get strictly a MP3 player this one would be it) and they are the same amount, plus they do not have a player that allows Web Browsing. So I could have spent $149.00 to $399.00 for a player that plays just audio and video files, but I want something more.

So that brings on the Sony PSP. First off, let me just let you all know that I am not a big gamer. I really do not play video games, due to the fact that I am very busy, but more importantly I hate to get frustrated over a stupid game! So the video game aspect of the PSP was not too convincing for me. One of the main reasons I purchased the PSP is because of the Web Browsing via a WiFi signal. Stinking awesome! Also the PSP plays music (WMA, MP3, etc..), Video (MPEG4 compression, which gives stunning quality in a small file), and the Internet. The video game aspect is just a cherry on top of the Multi-Media pie! Plus I bought Need for Speed Carbon and that game is pretty fun (cause I have cheat codes for it, cause I am not losing sleep over a video game!).

I got all of this: the PSP unit, Data cable, power cable, PSP case, Daxter the game, Family Guy Best of Collection Movie, 1GB Memory Card, and a MultiMedia Software Suite for PSP - for only $199.99. So I just saved myself about 3 hundred dollars for everything and more that the Ipod or Zune allow.

All in all I am happy about my purchase, now I go to the library and hang out with the Junior Highers challenging them to Need for Speed Carbon. Just kidding! I loaded the thing with music, and take it with me on trips.

  1. If I were going to be a straight mp3 player, I would go with a Sandisk. In fact, I intend to get one with my income tax refund. For $75 at Amazon.com, you can get a (used) 6gb SanDisk player with micro-sd card expansion. It plays all sound media, and video, although the screen is incredibly small, and gets radio stations if you want to listen to those old things for some strange reason.

I never knew the PSP could do all of that other stuff. Good thinking going with that instead of a regular mp3 player..

I’m trying to find a good cheap fm transmitter right now for playing my wife’s mp3 player in the car. Any suggestions?

  2. Just get a ps3 so I can beat you down like I always did on nintendo 64. Remember Fifa 98 I owned you on that. You were a much better gamer than actual soccer player.

  4. This has nothing to do with this blog or post…

I just wanted to say that Ben… YOU ARE THE MAN!!! You were awesome over at Southern Sports Beat. I have written several comments that, after reading them, I decided not to send because they were too offensive. Those guys have no idea how rough it can get. I feel like I’m being too nice and they still can’t take it.

    Impressive.
