Yeah this is a topic of hot debate, but it should not be. I have seen the sites these self-righteous “hand-coders” make and they are awful (many and most of them). Not all WYSIWYGs are bad. Dreamweaver for example has built one awesome WYSIWYG. Plus, those who are really into web-design will eventually learn “hand-coding”. But to say “hand-coding is the only way one can make a compliant website” is just plain stupid! One should learn HTML and CSS and other languages as well, but should not be hindered by Notepad and slow response times with saving the file then looking at it from a browser and then going back to Notepad and fixing your mistakes then viewing in a browser then going back to Notepad then looking at the file in a browser then going back into… where was I? So do you see how time consuming that is. Sure you have gotten pretty good at it, but it is so much better and productive to view the page as you code or vice a versa.
Once again do not be hindered by anti-WYSIWYG people who hate on you, because you took the time and effort to design your page correctly while they have tons of text and Word clip-art scattered across their site. Take the time to learn HTML and CSS, but do not be a snob. Dreamweaver pumps out compliant HTML and CSS… now if they can only work on their JavaScript the world would have peace, but it is great for now.
Design first, tweak the code second. That is why they call you a web-DESIGNER!
Ok so the people over there at Mozilla are working on a project called “SeaMonkey“. This baby is awesome. Open Source is the best! Let me know what everyone thinks about it, but as for me I Love It! It even works as a HTML editor. Yeah, awesome! Ah the power of Open-Source!
So I am still playing with blog designs. I have been reading like a madman on how to create my own blog, and I am slowly making headway. How can I say I am a Designer when I cannot even build my own blog! Oh well… I am sure I will get it with my advanced courses in Computer Science, but I am impatient! This blog is not my own design. It is from the 1and1 engine. Oh well… if anyone sees this let me know a good book I can read to understand this thing they call “BLOG”.
So I am really thinking about buying the CSS uprade package for Wordpress. Oh well this will do for now.
So I like Flash. I think it really helps a site stand out and it makes the site flow, but I have a huge problem with it. It starts with the University of Toledo labs. Seeing how Adobe updates their flash player so often, the University of Toledo is slow in updating their computers with the newer Adobe player, so that means a user cannot view a site with Flash. They cannot see certain elements in the website or they cannot see any of the website, if it is all done in Flash. This is bothersome!
If the University of Toledo is slow in updating, I am sure other Universities and Companies are too. What does this mean? It strictly means that as a designer or website owner with Flash, you lose some customers or viewers to your site. Many students at the University have no internet service were they live, so the labs at the University is the only place they can view the web.
So if you have Flash on your website you lose out on potential customers and viewers.
I have been debating the Issue of making a complete Flash site, but this settles it for me. I love Flash, but I do not love it that much to risk losing viewers (I need all the ones I can get).
So I will stick with HTML and CSS (which is another problem for older browsers).
So Liberty Baptist Church site is up and working. It needs a lot of work, though, but it is finally up. I am excited.

I am sorry I have not posted on here in awhile, but Finals came up and then the Holidays. I am back, though. Ok… for starters Liberty Baptist Church site should go up later this week or the beginning of this week Lord willing. I am looking forward to it.
I try to keep this blog about design in all aspects, but this just riles me. Don Imus is back on the air which I am applauding (*clap* *clap* *clap*), I do not agree with what he says, but this is America, and he has the right to talk. What annoys me is the fact that Rev Al (aka “bigot jew-hating white-mongering self-proclaimed Black pope”) has said that Imus’ apology is good, therefore Rev Al is letting him go back to radio. Who do you think you are Al (I am dropping the Reverend part, sorry you don’t deserve it)? Why do we have to ask Al and Jesse if we are being “racist”? And why are people even listening to this hypocrite? I don’t know… we live in one messed up world.
I feel like poop, this week. I have two exams in Physics, one in Calculus, one in ROTC, a paper due Thursday, and my APFT (Army Physical Fitness Test). Have you ever had one of those weeks. Let me hear about it.
Yep that is right it is up and running. http://teenswithhope.org
I am still updating it and it will have some minor changes. The code will be spruced up, to make it more accessible. Ok, well that is done.
